December! The very best month of the year.
A twinkly time filled with love and good cheer.
For one single month we can wake up at six,
And chomp on a choccy before Weetabix.
It’s twenty fifteen, and my tots (one and three),
Are making this advent so special for me.
We started our month in a magical way.
At Center Parcs Whinfell and on holiday.
We swam and we played and we walked in the rain.
We splashed in the puddles like we were insane.
The Christmassy forest filled both tots with glee
With twinkling reindeer and lights in each tree.
The fireworks whooshed as my little girl clapped,
(Not one to conform though, young Mstr Tot napped).
We even encountered the Big Man himself!
Shown to his home by a most helpful elf.
No tears from Miss Tot with her Santa fear faced,
She coyly squeaked “Hi” and her order was placed.
“A small spooky puzzle and yo yo too please.”
She bravely requested whilst hugging my knees.
For the rest of the week it continued to pour.
But we happily opened each calendar door.
And though we were sad when our short break was done,
We headed home knowing Christmas had begun!
But…While Miss Tot’s speech for the most part is fine,
She’s not great with “Chr” So it’s now “P!ssmass time”.
We stroll through the streets in the dark frosty nights.
Eagerly spotting new “P!ssmassy lights!”
We’ve baked and made cards and done naff “P!ssmass” craft.
The John Lewis ad makes me cry ’cause I’m daft!
The kid’s social calendars dominate mine,
With so many parties and so little time.
But then out of nowhere my son’s full of spots?
A trip to the chemist confirms…chicken pox!!
The parties are cancelled, no need to get dressed.
We’re all now on pre-P!ssmass full house arrest.
Where despite frequent warnings of “Don’t touch the tree!”
They spend the whole day hiding baubles from me.
But still, we’ll be fine, as while we’re stuck inside,
The CBeebies bugs have been P!ssmassyfied!
It seems that whatever this month throws our way,
The magic of P!ssmass will brighten each day.
And so as we twinkle our way through December,
I’m sure that this month will be one to remember.
I’ll go now, and cherish some P!ssmassy time.
With that wonderful hubby and two tots of mine.
So thanks to you all as you’ve brightened my year!
May you each enjoy Christmas with those you hold dear.
I wish you all cake at this magical time,
And needless to say I’m of course sending wine!
Happy Christmas, and New Year and all that’s between.
And here’s to a fabulous twenty sixteen!
Linking up with…
A pleasure to read as always π Merry P!ssmas to you too!

Oh no! That’s a shame that you’ve had to cancel Christmas plans due to chicken pox (or is it?)! I laughed at the idea of your tots spending the day hiding Christmas decorations from you, sounds like they’re keeping you busy despite being housebound!

I think I’ve been more exhausted by our days stuck in the house than I am doing my usual running about between play dates and playgroups? He is all healed and safe to leave quarantine now though thank goodness. (And I’ve just had a couple of days rest… at work haha). Thank you for popping by lovely x

Another lovely poem! You’ve captured the magic of christmas perfectly. It sounds like its been a busy, unpredictable month, but I cant think of a better month than December to be housebound, forced to stay in pj’s, watch tv and eat chocs all day ;-). Happy christmas, and thanks for linking up to #MarvMondays

Thanks lovely. I totally agree. Can you imagine if it had happened in January? House bound with no ‘p!ssmassyfied’ CBeebies bugs and snacking on lettuce? Gah! π

Lovely! Shame about the chicken pox, but still sounds fun! Confused by choccy before weetabix, though – instead of, surely?! (Though not for the kids, I suppose – that’s just me!) Happy P*ssmas! #justanotherlinky
