Meeting a real life blogger…

I’ve been “Rhyming with Wine” now for just a short while.
But the people I’ve met here have all made me smile.

I’ve loved all the comments and things you all say,
And picked up some fab blogging friends on the way.

You all write such interesting brilliant stuff,
I could spend all day reading and not read enough.

But I came by this one certain blogger one day.
Her post made me laugh so I stopped to say “Hey!”

We both said hello and we had a brief chat,
She too was from Yorkshire – how awesome is that!?

She shared her idea for a fab children’s book,
(I really was honoured to get a sneak look).

And she asked me to lend her a hand with the rhyme.
So we said that we’d meet when we next had the time.

And though I was happy to get a date set,
Once it was sorted I started to fret.

What if this lady was not really real?
This could be a hoax and some crazy ordeal?

But I figured I wanted to go anyway,
So we settled to meet at a local soft play.

And if my new buddy turned out to be fake,
At least there’d be coffee and plenty of cake?

The day quickly came. I arrived just as planned.
Clutching my phone in the palm of my hand.

My hubby was home and distinctly “on call.”
It pays to be safety aware after all.

So I got there first and unloaded the tots,
Both vaguely clean and wiped free of all snots.

They instantly both dragged me into the frame,
While I watched for my friend and remembered her name.

I squeezed down the slide with my tot on my knee.
And there she was waiting and waving at me.

I hauled myself up and regained my composure.
(Jiggled my clothing to save my exposure.)

And when we said “Hi” it was instantly clear.
A really nice friendship was starting right here!

We chatted and waffled the hours away,
Whilst watching our tots all excitedly play.

(By “excitedly play” I mean *climb up the frame,
Get stuck at the top and start yelling my name*.
Just like “seeing them find their own feet with huge pride”
means *constantly stopping them climb up the slide!!*)

And as our first mummy date came to an end,
I left the soft play with a lovely new friend.

(Who’s book incedently is totally brill,
she draws and creates with incredible skill.
But I won’t say too much of her fabulous tale,
as it’s hers to decide if she wants to regale).

We’ll hope for the best and cross fingers and toes,
And see where our crazy adventuring goes.

But one thing it’s taught me, the main thing I feel,
Is so overwhelmed to realise you’re all real!?

You’re more than your pictures, your font and your name.
We’re all real life people, just blogging the same.

And as we reach out with our words or our rhyme,
We’re giving each other the gift of our time.

And though most of us won’t get the chance to meet ever,
Our words span the globe and still bring us together.

Thank you all for your lovely comments,  shares,  follows and  amazing support through my first few months as “Rhyming with wine”.  I feel very privileged to be part of this fantastic community.

Wishing you all a truly wonderful New Year, and I’m looking forward to keeping up with you all in 2016.

With a massive shout out to the fabulous Gemma at Colley’s Wobbles. If you haven’t already, please check out her blog. She is awesome!

  1. Aww thank you so much lovely. It was a pleasure to meet you and yours, and I’m so pleased to count you as a friend now. We really should rearrange with cake and coffee 🙂 Can’t wait to go on our adventures with Bob. 😘🐡🐙🐢🐠 xxx

    1. Definitely. It’s a date for the new year. Let’s crack open the new diaries and get some cake planned in. Could just do with a soft play that includes a small, safe area, possibly with lots of velcro to keep the tots in, so that we can actually have the necessary free hands to eat the cake haha. (Velcro? Frowned upon? Meh!)

Happy new year lovely. Here’s hoping that 2016 is Bob’s lucky year! 😊🐡💕 xx

      1. Damn I almost thought you were going to say crack open a bottle, but we’ll save that for another time. Yes I shall be in touch and cake shall be on the cards. That sounds like the ideal soft play. Yes cheers to 2016, let’s hope I actually manage to get it done before 2017 😊 🐡 Once I get going I usually get on a roll so we shall see. I’m super excited about it all xx

      2. Me too! Can’t wait to see how you bring it all to life. I don’t envy your workload though. Seriously – if I can help do some colouring in just shout. (Don’t ask me to draw though – the whole project will be doomed 😁). There shall definitely be a bottle at some point. Probs best not to do that at soft play though. Definitely would get tutted at! 😉 In the meantime… There shall be cake! Xxx

    1. Thank you for reading lovely. It’s nice to “meet” you. I’ve only been at this a few months but everyone really is so fantastic. I’m hooked already. I’ll pop over and have a nosy at your blog in a bit. (Love finding new blogs to read) Happy New Year xx

    1. I must admit that I was stunned to “bump into” someone that literally lives about 15 mins up the road!? It’s a small world. I think we should start up a meet up network as sometimes there needs to be actual wine and cake! (Not that the emojis aren’t fab of course – and they are remarkably lower in calories hehe) If ever I’m in your area I will definitely look you up. Will bring cheesy 80s movies and a Margarita pizza 😊 Happy New Year xxx

      1. I was a bit terrified to be honest. Not helped by the hubby telling me that it was obviously just a kidnapping plot and that I was leading myself and the children into certain peril. :-/ I’m really pleased that we went though. It’s just a bit surreal! I’d love to go to blog fest but I think I’d be a bit starstruck and just end up drunk and muttering in a corner! Xx

      2. Ha!Can you imagine if you’d turned up and it was some hairy arsed bloke :-D.I always think I’d be the same too,I know we’re all just regular Joe’s but I’d be in total awe of some!Or worse, imagine if you met someone whose blog you love but then they turn out to be a bit of a knob lol xx

      3. Illusions shattering all over the place!! 😉 You’d be mortified wouldn’t you!? Must admit I was looking over my shoulder as I went to meet Gemma and eyeing up anyone remotely suspicious looking just in case. To top it off my phone fell out of my pocket and I lost it on the climbing frame just before she arrived. For just a few minutes I thought that my potential kidnapper had pinched it from my pocket to cut off my means of raising the alarm. Luckily someone saw that a kind gentleman had picked it up and put it in his pocket for safe keeping *ahem* so I got it back. All added to the drama though. I think if I were to meet anyone else in future I would have to arrange a group meet up just to save my nerves haha. Poor Gemma must have felt much worse though – she only had a cartoon to go on. I could have been Hanibel Lecter? Xx

I’ve only recently takend my blog seriously & starting to interact. Maybe I’ll meet a real blogger to one day 😊

    1. Thanks lovely! I would feel like that too if I was ever brave enough to do Blog fest. It must be quite daunting turning up on your own into a room full of people you’ve never properly met. Looking forward to reading more from you and your blog. Happy new year xx

    1. Another fellow “Yorkshire lass”? Brilliant. I ventured (slightly) south for a few years but ended up coming back. It must be the puddings?

  4. This is just lovely. I’d love to meet the people behind the blogs too. Unfortunately I’ve never come across any who are from my corner of the world. One day maybe. I hope all works out well with the book – how exciting. Happy new year xx
